Jacquie Biggar Tells All

Jacquie Biggar writes Romantic Suspense with tough, alpha males who know what they want, until they’re gob-smacked by strong, myselfcontemporary heroines, willing to show them that what they really need is love. Blessed with a long, happy marriage, Jacquie enjoys writing romance novels that end with happy-ever-afters. She lives in paradise along the west coast of Canada with her family and loves reading, writing, and flower gardening. She swears she can’t function without coffee, preferably at the beach with her sweetheart. 🙂

With Jacquie’s book, The Guardian, coming out today (Yay!), I just had to sit her down and ask some questions.

Diana: What makes you want to write romantic suspense instead of other fiction genres?

Jacquie: I like the increased adrenaline that comes from reading a good suspense novel. As a reader I’m more invested in a happy ever after if the characters have to really work for it. Romantic suspense does that. There’s more to the story than just the will she/won’t he premise. The H/H often have to overcome seemingly impossible odds to reach their happy ending.

Diana: Your heroine in The Guardian is a local Medical Examiner. Why did you choose that profession for her and how did you research what that entails?

Jacquie: I’m a big fan of the television series Bones. Dr. Temperance Brennan is a forensic anthropologist who helps solve cases with the FBI. I liked this idea, and decided to put my own twist on her character. For research I used a group I belong to called Crime-scene Writers. They are a Yahoo group filled with Investigators, FBI agents, pathologists, and numerous other professionals in the field of criminal investigations.

Diana: Your heroines are very strong, which is wonderful. How do you balance out your heroes so they can stand up to your heroines?

Jacquie:  My heroes are alpha males with backgrounds in a variety of fields from military, to lawmen, construction, even movie stars! They are more hands smart than book smart, comfortable in their own skin, often sarcastic, confident, a little arrogant, and when they love, it’s forever.

JacquieBiggar_MendedSouls_800pxHere’s a blurb about The Guardian:

Restitution begins with the truth.
Lucas Carmichael and Scott Anderson had it all, money, fame, and fortune. But one night’s stupid mistake takes everything they thought they cherished and dumps it upside down.  A car accident ends Lucas’ life and leaves Scott injured and bitter.
As the local ME, Tracy York, investigates the case, discrepancies begin to point to more than a simple drunk driving incident. When threats are made to Tracy’s life can Scott and his guardian angel, Lucas, protect her, or will she become another casualty?

Doesn’t that sound wonderful? Go to Jacquie’s website to read an excerpt and to find out about the tons of giveaways she does every month. The Guardian is available at Amazon today.
